3/4 cup plain flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup caster sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C fan-forced (200°C conventional).
Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl.
Add the baking powder, salt and sugar and whisk well to combine.
Add the eggs, oil and vanilla extract and whisk until well blended.
Add the walnuts and chocolate chips and fold through to combine.
Grease a 7.5 inch (19 cm) loaf pan and line the base with baking paper.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and shake the pan to let the batter settle and remove any air bubbles.
Bake the cake in the centre of the oven for 40–45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
Turn the cake out onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve.
